Why Chelsea players won’t be having any Christmas break

Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri has informed his squad that there won’t be any Christmas break for them.

The Blues will be playing six tough must win matches in the space of 17 days due to the usual busy English Premier League December period.

Chelsea players will be training on Christmas day and even in the morning of Boxing day ahead of their match against Watford.

Sarri said: “Do I enjoy Christmas? No, I like to play football more. I’m lucky. In Italy, we played over Christmas and I liked it very much. In the stadiums, there was a wonderful atmosphere, which in Italy is not very easy to have.

“There is no Christmas for us. We have to play every three days. How we prepare depends on the match. If the match is in the evening, we stay at home the evening before. If the match is in the afternoon, we will stay in the hotel the night before, as usual.

“So we will be in training on Christmas Day and on Boxing Day before the match. Is there a present I want this year? No. No Christmas for me, so no present.”
