Tennis star, Serena Williams has withdrawn from next week’s Italian Open, saying she needs more time to be “100 percent ready to compete.”
This is just 5 days after she pulled out of the WTA event in Madrid, saying she needed more time to prepare for her first clay season since giving birth to her daughter.
Serena Williams, a four-time Italian Open champion, has not played since her a first-round loss to Naomi Osaka in March at the Miami Open.
Catherine Bellis takes Williams’ place in the Rome draw.
Serena has won the Italian Open 4 times and has not played on clay since Roland Garros in 2016.
